new here

Hi and welcome! I’m Hayley.

What’s Thinker Maker all about?

Let me tell you in a poem.

We are creative geniuses.
Or actually, we have creative geniuses
living in secret safe places
inside our chests,
even if we tell ourselves
“I’m not an artist”, and
“I can’t do that”,
whatever ‘that’ is
that seems utterly fascinating
and makes our hearts beat
a little
or a lot
faster.

We have creative geniuses inside
which already, gloriously shove us into extraordinary
and ordinary
acts of imagination
and exploration,
even if we think our lives are not “creative enough”,
whatever that means.

We’re not scared to be ourselves.
Or actually, truthfully,
we are terrified,
we just do it anyway,
or at least,
we think seriously about it
and would like to get there
sometime soon
when we are ready to risk
opening up
that much.

We want to live on the edge
of possibility
,
whether this life looks conventional
or unconventional
from the outside,
because secretly we understand
that ‘impossible’
doesn’t exist
except in the minds of those
who have lost touch with themselves.

We believe in magic.
Or at least,
we really, really want to,
which means we are communing
with the magic inside us already.
And if we just cleaned the gunk off our glasses
and opened our eyes
it would all be right there
and we would be enchanted
once again.

We do our best
and try to be okay with that
instead of telling ourselves off
punishing
depriving
pushing ourselves into things
that deep down we know
don’t mean anything
next to
loving
giving
believing in ourselves.
And when we can’t love and give and believe
we do our best
to be okay with that, too.
